The beginning

I became interested in photography at the age of 9 when I received a 110 film camera as a gift for Christmas. With this new toy, I eagerly took pictures of my beloved pets and cherished family moments. In my early 20s, I purchased my first SLR camera and began to see the world differently and started photographing everything. I joined a local camera club to connect with fellow enthusiasts, took various photography courses at night school to enhance my skills, and fell deeply into the fascinating art of capturing images.

Why landscape photography

I was born and raised in Yorkshire, which is a beautiful part of England that has so much to offer the landscape photographer. Most of my spare time was spent outdoors, whatever the weather. I loved walking, and it seemed a natural progression to take my camera along with me.

Landscape photography gave me the excuse to get up early and get out.

The big move, old regrets and new beginnings.

In 2007, my husband, our four cats, and I moved to Ireland. Work and moving took up most of our time, so I didn't focus on photography. A couple of years went by, life was settled again, and I was starting to get that photography itch again, so I purchased my first Digital SLR. With my new camera in hand I began to explore the beauty of this country. My love for photography was reignited.

After leaving the UK, and now watching all my favourite YouTube Photographers, many of which are based in the UK, I realise there was so much of the country that I haven’t seen and photographed. Many of us travel the world discovering new places, but spend so little time visiting what is on our own doorstep. Now, I’m starting fresh and determined not to repeat the same mistake. Yes I will still be travelling abroad from time to time, but I aim to explore and photograph as much of Ireland as possible, so join me on this journey to see where it leads.
